Steadicam is a wonderful tool when used well, sensitively and in a crisp and linear way. It should always be invisible, imperceptible and usually as 'dolly like' as possible. There's not much worse than a woolly, vague steadicam shot wobbling through what should have been a quiet, observational scene.

It's important to to understand the scene, know the script, react to the performance and capture exactly what the Director and DP want, precisely and efficiently.
